It's nearly St. Patrick's Day. Time for the Wearing 'O The Green, bunches of shamrocks and the local parade. An essential ingredient of the day is a bunch of shamrock on your lapel. This year I decided to make a more sustainable and a less-likely-to die-before-I-got-to-the-parade shamrock. It was super easy and, if you'd like to make your own, here's a free shamrock pattern to print out and use as a template.
To make a badge you'll need some orange felt, some green felt, thread and a brooch back. You could use a safety pin instead of a brooch back if you can't get your hands on one. I've used a Mettler Limelight Green to give a bit of contrast and get another shade of green closer to 40.
Trace the shamrock pattern. Then cut out one piece of green felt and one piece of orange felt for each badge you want to make. Sew the brooch pin onto the orange piece securely. Pin or Clover clip the two pieces together and sew. You can see I stitched quite roughly but you can be as neat as you fancy.
And that's it. Wear your Shamrock with pride!
