The Haberdashery began as the pie-in-the-sky idea of two crafter friends, Amy Lynch and Tricia Hayes. For years they imagined the perfect fabric shop and lusted after all the lovely fabric and notions they could buy from it. Then, on a beautifully grey Dublin summers day, while crossing the Ha’Penny Bridge, they decided it was time to stop waiting for someone to bring them the fabric shop they wanted and to do it themselves.
Amy has had a multitude of jobs, but her heart has always been in making and creating. She has had a fondness for fabric since she was a child, trying to design and sew mini dolls for a dolls house with clumsy fingers (and resorting to glue because the needle and thread wouldn’t go where she wanted them to). She mainly makes bespoke cushions and hanging mobiles for babies now, but is still known to make the odd doll too.
Way back in the last century Tricia studied fine art and still loves to make things- some useful, some useless. She loves colour and organises her books by the shade of the spine. She also likes a good cup of tea and a cherry bakewell, sometimes a jam tart.
Amy and Tricia have been friends for more years than they can add up. They’ve been on a few adventures together and love a good road trip with maps to guide them and jellies to keep them sustained.
